Too bad. Usually you can just shoo them off beds.
I agree with BugmanDan–I understand they can be scary (especially in our intimate, safe places), but the reason the spider you killed was scrambling around on your bed is probably because it was confused, and instinctually trying to get away from the movement/vibrations caused by a very large, scary creature (you!). Spiders often don’t want to be anywhere near humans. When looking at lists of spiders in Missouri, I came across the Eastern Parson spider (Herpyllus ecclesiasticus). They seem to have a similar cephalothorax to the one in your picture. It’s hard to tell though, because the spider is smushed.… Read more »
