I found multiple females scurrying around in the grass carrying their egg sacks. They are very small (~5-10mm), quick and agile. This is the best picture I could get as they are so small. I did not see any webs anywhere.

Thus is a little wolf spider. From your description of their behaviour I think they are likely Pardosa wolf spiders
